By the manufacturer: BCA presents the MT20 hardtail mountain bike with features found on big brother’s bike as well as dad’s. Tuned travel front shock absorbs the bumps and the sturdy steel frame keeps the bike tracking straight. Shifting is handled with a six-speed drivetrain featuring a twist shifter, and lugged knobby tires get all that kid power to the ground and provide great traction. Front and rear linear pull brakes keep speed in check. Supple padded seat is easily adjusted with no tools thanks to a quick release lever clamp. With the MT20, the fun doesn’t stop when the street ends. Bicycle Corporation of America (BCA) bicycles are proudly assembled here in the USA at our factory in Manning, South Carolina. All that is true. Then…
We’ve taken this gently used bike, upgraded it with our thorn-resistant tubes (~$40 value) and liners ($20 value), cleaned and repacked the headset, bottom-bracket, front and rear wheel bearings with pro-grade teflon grease (~$40 value), applied black rust-prohibitive paint to certain parts, and repainted the front fork drop-outs (where the axle and bolts go) with 6 layers of white enamel and top coat (to resist nicks and scratches from the lawyer tabs and while beating the bushes).
We then reassembled everything, adjusted the brakes and shifting for peak performance, cleaned and lubed the chain and it’s ready to roar in the outback!
This is, in our opinion, one of the best consumer-grade youth mountain bikes, and we’ve made it that much better. Fully assembled, ready-to-ride. This bike is for the young person who truly wants to explore where the pavement ends; the image of them riding with their parents or older siblings on area mountain bike trails is accurate for how this bike was designed. It can still be used for school commutes and riding around the block, but this bike has sooo much more potential!
Cosmetic wear to paint from routine use, and spotty wear through blue rim color due to routine rim brake wear.
